User Reviews about Hoover SteamVac Dual V Widepath Carpet Cleaner - Plum - F7411-900
This is the best household item that I have ever bought! I am extremely pleased with this vacuum! I have a 2.5 yr old boy and beige carpets throughout our home and typically I hire a carpet cleaning company to do high traffic areas once or twice a year at roughly $300 a pop! The last time they came, the soiled areas returned very quickly so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Although it was very time consuming, the carpets came up amazingly clean (and have stayed that way, 6 wks after the fact) and the color of the water that came up was unbelievable! This vacuum removed SOO much dirt! I didn't even know my carpets were that dirty! And that says alot for a family of 3 with no pets and having just had my carpets done about 4 months ago! -- Awesome Carpet Cleaner!!
This is a great product. It worked perfectly and now my carpets are so clean they look almost like new. I would recommend this SteamVac Dual V cleaner to everybody. -- Great Product
I bought this steamvac a year and a half ago, primarily to clean the rug in my family room. With three small children, we've found it increasingly difficult to keep the carpet free of stains and spots. Below are what I see as the pro's and con's for this machine.
Pros:
- Cleans very well for a home unit, as well as the commercial level units I've rented.
- It has sufficient accessories; it comes with an 8-foot hose for a long reach, a removable tool caddy for easy storage, and a SpinScrub powered handheld tool for upholstery and stairs.
- It does an outstanding job of sucking up the water from the carpet. I can do the carpet in the evening, and it will be dry the next morning when I get up.
- Very good price for what you get.
Cons:
- It's a little heavy/awkward for my wife to use
- The parts seem a bit flimsy, and some of the parts don't fit quite as tightly as I'd like. This is probably somewhat a function of the inexpensive price, but be aware and be gentle and you should be ok.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with my purchase. It's done a great job on my carpets and doesn't show any signs of wearing out after 18+ months of moderate usage. On a side note, try to manually clean your spills as best as you can right after your kids/pets make them. While this machine is very good, no machine will get certain stains out that have been allowed to set unchecked.
-- Good Product, Good Price
Got the cleaner and put it together quickly. Very easy assembly. Read the manual, followed the directions and it cleans great. The hoover cleaning products do seem to work very well, especially the pet cleaning solution. Kind of expensive but it works. The hotter you can get the water the better. It picked up old stains that nothing else would touch. Haven't had it long so we'll see if it lasts. Clean it up after use and it should last a few years with 3 or 4 cleanings a year. -- Great Carpet Cleaner
I just bought the All Terrain Carpet and Hard Floor Cleaner, mainly because I wanted to use it on carpet and especially on the bane of my life, the white ceramic floor I have in my kitchen. (What was I thinking?)
Anyway, I found the All Terrain Cleaner very difficult to put together. I can put computers together, big ones with woofers and tweeters, so I ought to be able to put together a carpet cleaner, right? Well, I found it very challenging. I didn't think the directions were that well written, I couldn't find the nuts and bolts, the nozzle was very hard to get off, there were too many parts, and some of the parts didn't fit into the attachment caddy.
However, I managed to get it together (after a long time and two readings of the manual) and used it on the white ceramic floor first. I had just mopped the floor two days before, but the recovery tank still ended up with grey dirty water, so I would definitely say that it got the floor clean. The cleaner did a fairly good job of getting up all the water, but then when I was putting it away, it dripped all over my just cleaned floor.
The next day I tried it on carpet. It did a really good job of getting up all the water; my carpets were almost dry when I got done. It didn't get all the spots out, so the next time I will pre-treat the spots. It pulled up a lot of carpet fibers, I think from the area rugs I also cleaned, and therefore it was very hard to clean the machine afterwards. I had to get a tweezer to pick the fibers out from behind the brushes, because that was the only way I could get them out.
I haven't tried to use any of the attachments yet, although I did figure out how to attach the hose.
I will keep this item and use it again, but I think I would prefer to have separate cleaners for hard floors and carpet. That way, I wouldn't have to do so much taking apart and putting together.
I like the All Terrain cleaner, but I wish it had fewer parts. I don't like changing the brushes when I switch from hard floors to carpet, and I really don't like taking the nozzle off, because it's so hard to get off. Also, the cleaner is big and heavy. If you're large man, that wouldn't matter, but it might be a bit of a challenge for a small woman. -- Too Many Complicated Parts for Me
